History and Background 
  • QATCMA –is the abbreviated form of our association with the full name of “British Columbia Qualified Acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association”. It was registered under the ‘Society Act‘with the British Columbia government on September 13, 2000. 
  • On January 16, 2000, Tom Kong, President of Canadian Acupuncturists and TCM Alliance of BC called a general meeting at its Richmond office for all registered Acupuncturists and resolved that to form a new association it was necessary to amalgamate with other associations and registered members.
  • On April 11, 2000 Tom Kong, Chair of the interim committee of QATCMA, with  members Sunny Lee, Joe Wong, Joseph Wu and Tahmineh Nikoorkar etc., called another general meeting for the approval of the Bylaws and Constitution. A formal interim Board of Directors was formed: Chair - Tom Kong , Vice Chair - Sunny Lee , Directors: Tahmineh Nikookar, B.K. Singh, Liping Cai, Mariane Cheng,Ting Ting Jiang, Soung Wook Jun, Wenpei Li, Shunfu Mai, Sky Willow, Joe Wong, Joseph Wu, Guo Guang Zheng.
  •  On January 28, 2001 at the Annual General Meeting of Canadian Acupuncturists and TCM Alliance, a resolution of majority votes from the floor  agreed to merge the Alliance with QATCMA  
  • On March 11, 2001, the first Annual General Meeting of QATCMA was held and its elected Board of Directors were: Tom Kong - President, Sunny Lee  - 1st Vice President, and Directors - Li Ping Cai, Wanda Stephens, John Young, Wenpei Li, Ivy Pang, Sun Kyung Lim, Sky Willow, Philippe Souvestre and William Hardman.
  • The Board was restructured after President Tom Kong’s resignation on June 12, 2001. Sunny Lee was elected President, William Hardman - 1st Vice and John Young - 2nd Vice President, and Directors - LiPing Cai, Wenpei Li, Wanda Stephens, Ivy Pang, Sun Kyung Lim, Sky Willow, Philippe Souvestre, and Tom Kong .
  • The Present Board has also been restructured with the resignation of the 1st Vice President William Hardman after the March 3, 2002 Annual General Meeting. Sunny Lee -President, John Young - 1st Vice and Philippe Souvestre - 2nd Vice President, and Directors- Li Ping Cai, Wenpei Li, Wanda Stephens, Ivy Pang, Sun Kyung Lim, Sky Willow, Tom Kong and John Lee.
