  • To unify our profession by representing the interests of the profession and speak- ing with one voice to the public.
  • To encourage a high standard of practice and set guidelines in regards
    to fees charged for service.
  • To advise members on professional standards in regards to advertising.To draft suggestions to the CABC to follow a set standard for professional conduct.
  • Developing good communication lines with the government in regards to establishing MSP coverage, and agencies such as ICBC, Veteran’s Affairs, Worker’s Compensation Board, and third party insurers.
  • To lobby government agencies at all levels where necessary to improve the status of the profession.
  • To develop and sustain good communication with the CTCMA. We would like to state this again that the registered practitioners' association is responsible for the PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS while the CTCMA is responsible for regulation of the practitioners in the PUBLIC INTEREST. The two bodies require a good working relationship in order to both protect the public and develop the profession. In other words, we need each other and it is time to work together.
  • To be a source of support and information in the quest for developing research in the field including offering expertise and lobbying for funding.
  • To offer professional continuing education courses for members recognised for credit by the CTCMA.
  • To be a source of information to the public including public education as well as communication with the media.

The Purpose of Our Registration

  • The QATCMA registration is a public statement by peers that an associate member is recognized as having the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe and competent practice of acupuncture and TCM.
  • The QATCMA, with acupuncture organizations in other provinces, will try to work toward the acceptance of a national examination and establish national standards across the country.
  • The QATCMA will endeavour to participate in the NAFTA Acupuncture Commission for international cooperation and recognition.
  • Members are entitled to designate themselves as a “ Member of the QATCMA”
